Explore one of the most spectacular mountain regions of Georgia during this captivating journey. Embark on a scenic adventure through the Georgian Military Highway, connecting Russia to the South Caucasus region.

Tour Highlights:

Georgian Military Highway: Traverse the historic Georgian Military Highway, a vital route linking Russia to the South Caucasus region.

Zhinvali Dam: Start the trip from Tbilisi in the early morning, by 9 am, and visit Zhinvali Dam. This artificial water reservoir, formed by a hydroelectric dam built in 1986, offers breathtaking views of perfectly blue water surrounded by majestic mountains.

Ananuri Fortress: Explore the Ananuri fortress, a sixteenth-century castle complex on the Aragvi River. Admire the intricately carved facade of the main church, featuring animal, floral, and Celtic-style patterns. Learn about the history of the Eristavis (Dukes) of Aragvi and discover the site of numerous historic battles, ideal for landscape photography.

Gudauri to Kazbegi: Continue the journey from Gudauri, a renowned ski resort, along the Tergi River to reach Kazbegi, the main town in the region.

Mount Kazbegi: Marvel at the third-highest peak in Georgia and the seventh-highest summit in the Caucasus Mountains. Learn about its significance as the second-highest volcanic summit in the Caucasus and its prominent location west of the town of Stepantsminda. Discover the highest peak in eastern Georgia.

Gergeti Trinity Church: Drive to Gergeti Trinity Church, situated at an elevation of 2170m. Weather permitting, catch a glimpse of Mt. Kazbegi (5047m), one of the highest glaciers in the Caucasus. Explore the church, built in the 14th century on a site that once served as a pagan idol worship area. Learn about its history, including its use as a storage facility for Georgian relics during the Persian invasion of Tbilisi.

Stepantsminda: Take a short walk around Stepantsminda village, absorbing its charm and local atmosphere.

Return to Tbilisi: Conclude the tour with a scenic drive back to Tbilisi.
